Dr. Rodger Martin has played important roles in Central Asia in the areas of educational, economic, and humanitarian endeavors.

Training - Dr. Martin has provided economics, business management and economic modeling training to academic and government entities in both Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Curriculum development - Dr. Martin and the RAI team in Turkmenistan have translated and published the first market-oriented economics textbooks in the Turkmen language. The text, titled Agricultural Economics and Management by Casavant, Infanger and Bridges, addresses the fundamentals of market-oriented agricultural economics and agri-business. Dr. Martin and his team have also translated texts on oil and natural gas economics and a primer on the market economy. They have written and translaterd original works on basiness management and production economics using original Turkmenistan data.

Clean water and environmental - Dr. Martin is the representative for Water Engineered Technologies (W.E.T.) in Turkmenistan. He is supporting bid preparation & submittal for donor supported village-level water purification projects as well as commercial municipal water supply. Through their association with WET, RAI office in Turkmenistan is also engaged in environmental clean-up efforts, helping Turkmen industries dispose of oily wastes and other industrial pollutants before they enter the water supply.

Agriculture Development - Dr. martin is also working with the Turkmenistan Ministry of Agriculture and USA-based extension services to assist the Turkmenistan government in modernizing their agricultural systems. This work ranges from simple peasant-level crop and irrigation choices to modern satellite imaging and GPS based precision irrigation management solutions.
